Adam Gwon is a rising musical theater writer recently named one of "50 to Watch" by The Dramatist magazine. He has been hailed "an extremely talented composer and lyricist" who "is seriously going places." (The New York Sun, StageSpace.com)

His musicals include: Ordinary Days, receiving its premiere at Pennsylvania Centre Stage in summer 2008, and its UK premiere at the Finborough Theatre in London in fall 2008; Bernice Bobs Her Hair, with librettist Julia Jordan and director Joe Calarco, recently seen at Primary Stages; Ethan Frome, currently in development at the York Theatre Company; Lulu, an official selection of both the New York Musical Theatre Festival and the New York Fringe Festival; Some Place Like Home, commissioned and produced at the York Theatre Company; Following, which premiered at HERE as part of Raw Impressions' Music Theatre Marathon; Free Donuts, which was written for and performed by Developing Artists Theatre Company, the resident youth company at Center Stage NY; and several short musicals commissioned and performed at the Hangar Theatre and the Kitchen Theatre Company in Ithaca, NY.

Adam has scored over 25 productions across the country. His favorite composition credits include Cellophane (Flea Theater, dir. Jim Simpson), Mother Courage (dir. Robert Richmond), Cloud 9 (Brown-Trinity Rep Consortium), Twelfth Night (Princeton Rep Shakespeare Festival), Life's a Dream and Cymbeline (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art - London). He also writes music for film and advertising.

His work has also been seen at New Dramatists, Musical Theatre Works, NAMT, the Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the Johnny Mercer Foundation/American Music Theatre Project (where he was one of 14 songwriters-under-30 chosen from across the country to perform original work), and many others. He has studied with master artists Adam Guettel, Michael John LaChiusa, John Bucchino, Amanda McBroom, David Zippel, Craig Carnelia, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. He was a 2006-07 musical theater fellow at the Dramatists Guild and is a recipient of support from The Shen Family Foundation Musical Theater Composers Initiative.

He's currently at work on commissions from the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA (as part of its American Musical Voices Project: The Next Generation) and Broadway Across America.

Adam is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild.
